How to Clean a Telescoping Pole

    • 1). Take the pole outdoors. Lay out a plastic drop cloth on the ground or on a table. Place the pole on the drop cloth and extend the pole completely.

    • 2). Mix warm water and liquid dish detergent in a bucket. You should use 1 tbsp. of detergent for every 1 gallon of water. Liquid dish washing detergent is safe for the plastics and metals that telescoping poles are typically made of.

    • 3). Wet a clean sponge in the cleaning solution and scrub the pole from one end to the other. While the pole is still soapy, scrub each joint (where one telescoping area meets the other) with a nylon scrub brush to remove grime in these areas. If this is a small pole, use a toothbrush.

    • 4). Rinse the pole well by spraying it with a garden hose. Wipe the pole with a dry towel and leave it to finish air drying.
