How to Build Your Own Clothes Line Pole
- 1). Drill a 1/4-inch hole through each piece of wood, about 2 inches from the top. Center the holes so that from side to side on each piece of wood.
- 2). Dig a 4-foot-deep hole in the ground using a post hole digger. Dig another 4-foot-deep hole 4 feet to the side of the first one. Use the post hole digger to dig another 4-foot-deep hole that is 20 feet across the yard from the first two holes. Dig a fourth 4-foot-deep hole 4 feet to the side of the third hole.
- 3). Mix your cement according to the directions on the package. Place a piece of wood into one of the holes that you dug, and pour cement into the hole around the wood until it is about 1 foot from the surface of the ground. Hold the pole so that it is standing straight up until the cement is dry. Fill the rest of the hole with dirt. Repeat this process with the other posts and holes.
- 4). Slide your rope though the 1/4-inch hole you drilled in one of the posts, and pull it through all the way across the yard to the corresponding pole. Cut the rope and tie a knot in it so that it is secure. Repeat this process, stringing the rope between the remaining two poles.
