How to Remove Silverware Marks From Stoneware
- 1). Rinse the glazed portion of the stoneware in a warm water and wash with a mild detergent. If any part of the stoneware is unglazed, avoid submersing that portion in water as it can absorb water and cause it to crack.
- 2). Rub a mild, powdered cleaner such as Borax, baking soda or a commercial cleaner recommended by your stoneware manufacturer. Some manufacturers make their own cleansers. Do not use anything abrasive like steel wool, a scrub pad or other cleanser products.
- 3). Use a sponge to rub the cleaner into the metal marks and then rinse away.
- 1). Scrape food off unglazed stoneware with a rubber, silicone or wooden utensil. Only use metal if you cannot remove the food any other way.
- 2). Wash the stoneware by hand with warm water and a sponge. Do not soak the stoneware and dry it right after washing.
- 3). Use a nylon scrub brush or pad to remove utensil stains. Do not use cleansers or soap on unglazed stoneware.
