How to Download and Burn Free Movies Online
- 1). Download a torrent program. Many online movies come in special files called "torrents". These are a kind of file, just like a typing document is a kind of file, and as such you need a special program designed to read it. The torrent program is going to allow you to actually get the process of downloading these movie files started. When you double click on a torrent file, it will download the "torrent" itself, just like your Internet browser downloads any other program. You then need to find that torrent file in the location where you save your downloads, and open it using your torrent program. The torrent program gets the movie file to start downloading. You cannot directly download a movie file that is stored as a torrent by using the "download" feature in your internet browser; this only gets you the file that you need to open with the torrent program.
- 2). Search for movies. The files you are downloading should have a .avi extension in most cases if you want them to play. You can find movies to download by using a torrent downloading site or a general search engine, but be sure that any sites that you click on or open, or any movies you download, are not violating any copyright laws. Many of the files you will see may have "DVDrip" in the title but these should usually be avoided because that means they were "ripped" or copied from a DVD, often in violation of specific anti-copying rules and protections.
- 3). Once you have found a legal file, click on the file you want to download it and tell your computer to "Open With" the torrent program you have.
- 4). Convert the file. Using DVD burning software installed or purchased for your computer, open the movie file extracted from the torrent. This file is usually in .avi format.
- 5). Once the file is opened in the DVD software, select the size of the DVD disc you're using, select "NTSC" as the format, and the speed you want. Name the disc what you want, edit the format (widescreen or normal), create chapters if you want to, and then click "Accept" or "OK."
- 6). Burn the image to the disc. The file conversion can take 45 minutes to a few hours, depending on the size of the movie file. There are a variety of different software programs that you can download- either for free or for a small fee- that will allow you to convert and burn the file. If the software is not compatible, just open the image burner and have it burn the image to the DVD.
