    • 1). Park the vehicle on a level surface. Make sure the vehicle is in park.

    • 2). Turn on the engine and let it idle for a few minutes, if it's not already warmed up.

    • 3). Open the hood and clean off dirt around the transmission dipstick with a cloth. The transmission dipstick is usually located near the transmission. On many vehicles, you'll have to reach down a bit to grab the dipstick. Wear protective gloves if necessary.

    • 4). Remove the dipstick and wipe it clean with a cloth.

    • 5). Switch off the engine and insert the dipstick back into the casing.

    • 6). Remove the dipstick and check the fluid level. The right level will be reached when the fluid reaches the "Full" mark on the dipstick.

    • 7). Place a transmission funnel in the transmission fluid aperture and pour in some fluid.

    • 8). Remove the funnel and replace the dipstick in the aperture.
