How to Install SQL Server 2000 Client Tools
- 1). Insert the SQL Server 2000 installation CD. A splash screen appears prompting you to select an installation type. Select "SQL Server 2000 Components" and then click "Install Database Server." At the welcome screen, click the "Next" button.
- 2). Enter "Local Computer" in the text box labeled "Computer Name." Click the "Next" button. At the next screen, select "Create a new instance of SQL Server, or install Client Tools." This selection is used to install the tools for SQL 2000. Click the "Next" button.
- 3). Enter your full name and organization at the next screen and click the "Next" button. Check the box labeled "I agree" at the license agreement screen and click the "Next" button. At the next summary screen, select "Client Tools Only" from the list and click the "Next" button.
- 4). Enter your product ID for the SQL Server installation. This ID is located in a bright yellow label on the CD packaging. Click the "Next" button. Click "Next" through the next three windows, which keeps the default settings.
- 5). Click "Install" at the final installation screen. This copies the SQL Server client tools to your machine. It may take several minutes for the installation process to complete.
