    Framing Theater Wall

    • If you intend to create a dedicated home theater, you might need to build an additional wall to create the structure. Converting an existing room, finishing a basement, or building a stage might require wall framing, which is a simple task. There are two ways of framing a wall: take all the measurements and assemble the frame on the floor and then raise it into position; or assemble the frame right in place. For a person who is building the frame for the first time, the latter method is recommended as it simplifies the job to make sure the studs are straight.

    Sounds

    • DIY theater plans often fail to notice problems with acoustics and sounds. It is important to take out some time to appropriately address the theater acoustic issues. There are several techniques you can use for reducing the sound, which escapes the theater enclosure. According to Diy-home-theater-design.com, one method involves erecting a 2-foot-thick concrete wall around the theater, which can be quite effective for blocking sound. This idea is not very appealing to many people as concrete walls surrounding the media room can look unattractive. A better technique used by recording studios is to build an additional set of walls along with a new ceiling. This creates a gap of around 6 inches for the air surrounding the theater room. This gap of air tends to reduce the energy of soundwaves, which is quite an effective solution for distortion.

    Cabling

    • Electric cabling and wiring is quite a complicated task that may require an electrician. Even though it is a DIY project, a mistake in wiring could lead to a disaster, which is why it is important to hire an electrician for selective tasks, like running new wires to circuit breaker boxes. If your new theater is in a basement, you need several new outlets to be installed. Moreover, you will also need wiring for new light switches, and recessed lightning cans. You can do the trivial jobs yourself--for instance, drilling the holes and labeling the circuit breakers.
