The Proper Way to Put Flea Medication on a Dog
- 1). Open an applicator. This may require scissors or a knife.
- 2). Part the dog's fur at the base of its neck between the shoulder blades.
- 3). Place the applicator to the skin and squeeze out the contents.
- 4). For dogs up to 20 lbs., apply medication to a single spot on the skin on the back between the shoulder blades. For dogs 21 lbs. or more, apply medication to three or four spots along the skin on the back from the shoulders to the base of the tail.
- 5). Throw the applicator in the trash.
