How to String a Murray String Trimmer
- 1). Disconnect the spark plug following the manufacturer's directions. Tip your Murray string trimmer over onto its side. Take this opportunity to clean off any dried on dirt and grass using a wet rag. Getting this off now will make taking the string assembly apart a little easier.
- 2). Remove the screw holding the guide assembly in place. Take off the guide assembly to expose the cutting disk assembly. Use a T-handle wrench to remove the screw on the side of the cutting disk assembly.
- 3). Slide the cutting disk assembly off of the upper weed wrap. Remove any left over string on the cutting disk assembly.
- 4). Insert cutting string into both channels of the cutting disk. Wrap the string around until each channel is almost full. You will need to fill each channel with a separate piece of cutting string. Do not overfill the channels as this will cause the string to slip and stop trimming. Leave approximately 4 inches of string hanging off each channel; cut off the extra with scissors.
- 5). Push the string into the retaining notches on either side of the cutting disk to hold it in place. Put the cutting disk back onto the upper weed wrap. Screw the guide assembly tightly back in place. Reconnect the spark plug.
