    • 1). Raise the hood and prop it up with the prop rod.

    • 2). Connect the belt tensioner tool to the serpentine belt tensioner and carefully pull the tensioner arm so the pulley releases the tension from the serpentine belt.

    • 3). Grab the belt with your other hand and move it out of the tensioner pulley's path, then slowly release the pressure from the tensioner tool. Remove the tool when done.

    • 4). Use the socket set to unbolt the tensioner body from the front of the engine. Pull the assembly out by hand.

    • 5). Put the replacement tensioner in position and slide the bolts back through it and into the front of the engine. Tighten the bolts with the socket set.

    • 6). Reinsert the tensioner tool into the tensioner and move the tensioner pulley back out of the belt path. Slip the belt over the tensioner pulley with your other hand, then release the pressure from the tensioner slowly until the pulley is holding the belt firmly in place. Remove the tool.

    • 7). Start the engine and watch the belt for a moment to make sure it is moving across all the pulleys correctly.
