How to Prepare a Basement Floor
- 1). Remove all crumbling or loose material from the basement floor, and get it clean and dry.
- 2). Lay a long level over the surface near one corner. Assess where there is any gap under the level, indicating the floor is low there. Draw round circles around any low spots you see with a pencil.
- 3). Move the level a few feet over and repeat, circling any low spots you find. Continue across the whole floor, marking out all low areas.
- 4). Pour liquid leveler over the low spots that you marked, starting at the farthest corner from the entrance and working your way out of the room. At each marked circle, pour down the leveler slowly and let it spread out, filling the dips. Fill any cracks or holes.
- 5). Let the leveler set for a day. The basement floor is now ready for your flooring.
