Rescued Cats Picture Gallery - Mocha
Sharon shares another happy ending story; this one is about Mocha, an unstoppable, determined kitten who surely earned her new, happy home.
I received a call at my office one day from a vet's office about a 7-month-old kitten struggling to breath but not from anything that was apparent. Her owner did not want to pay for her vet care and gave instructions to "euthanize her".
Our group decided it was worth the gamble to take Mocha in and give her a chance. When she breathed, she gurgled. Something was very wrong. We transferred Mocha to our second vet's office, a short time later.
She labored hard to breathe and was so stunted from lack of oxygen, our 2nd vet thought she was younger than she is. Though they specialize only in cat vet care, even these specialists were puzzled. Then, the "aha" light went on. Mocha was sdiagnosed with a sinus polyp which had been blocking her breathing canal and affecting her body's ability to get enough oxygen. This little girl was determined to make it, though, and had hung on long enough to get into the care she deserved.
Imagine our vet's surprise when, during Mocha's surgery, she was found to have not one, but, two massive polyps in her sinus cavity ! The vet couldnt believe these huge growths could have fit into such a small area.(The vet wanted to show them to me after the surgery, but, I didn't want to pass out in front of her).
Secretly, several of us in our cat rescue group decided we wanted to adopt this very special little girl who had beat the odds. Of course, none of us told each other about our decision.
Mocha's vet, Dr.
Anne, beat all of us to the punch and adopted Mocha into her cat family (no fair). After her surgery, Mocha made a healthy and quick recovery and now enjoys keeping all 3 of her cat buddies at her newly adopted home on their toes (some more than others).
One result of Mocha's medical condition is she tends to let her tongue hang out a bit, which only adds to her charming look and personality.
This special girl didn't allow the odds to get her. Mocha reminds all of us why we should NEVER give up and ALWAYS believe in miracles.
