Even though medicine has improved dramatically the last 50 years, there are some home remedies you should definitely know about. Nobody doubts the great value of modern medicines like aspirin or penicillin, but you can still try an alternative way of eliminating your health problems. I want to show you a few ways to do it, using only basic items that everybody should have in his home or office. You could even save money, if you are willing to try the five home remedies, which used to help people many years before you were born.

1. Headache - Put a pencil in your mouth!
You have done it many times during your childhood, for no good reason. Now I will give you a reason to start doing it again! When you place a pencil between your upper and lower jaw, soon the level of your pain will decrease. Your jaw muscles are relaxed and the tension, that causes your problems, is removed. You should not bite the pencil, because this action could even increase the pain in your head.

2. Eczema - Use oatmeal!
Eczema is caused by an increased level of histamine, released in the cells of your body. A lot of experts believe that oats have an antihistamine effect. You can lower the redness, if you cover it with oatmeal for about 20 minutes.

3. Bad breathe - Eat yoghurt!
Yoghurt neutralizes the acid that has settled in your mouth. This acid causes most of your breath problems. It won't be a problem if you eat your yoghurt with fresh fruits. You should know that my advice won't help you, if you suffer from some kind of condition, which is the main source of your bad breathe.

4. Warts - Duct tape will help you.
I used to have two heinous warts on my left arm. My friend Tom, who is a cleaner in Dagenham, helped me remove them. Thanks to his job, he knows how to clean everything from everywhere. I had to cover my warts with duct tape everyday, for about two months, but it really worth it. You will also need a pumice stone. It will help you remove all dead skin cells, if you use it once a week.

5. Hiccups - A spoonful of sugar will stop it!
It helps in 95% of the cases. All you need to do is swallow a spoonful of sugar. Hiccups won't bother you again. Sugar redirects impulses, sent from your nervous system, causing your problem. You could use whatever type of sugar you have at home. I prefer brown sugar, because I like its taste better.

Even though I use medications occasionally, I prefer to avoid them every time when it's possible. It turned out that sometimes, old wives' tales could really help you.
