How to Install Microsoft Office 2000 Premium Without a CD Key
- 1). Create a new version of your Office 2000 Premium disk with the product key built in. Insert your Office 2000 Premium disk. Open "My Computer" and right click the Office disk. Select "Explore."
- 2). Go to "Tools" and select "Folder Options." Select the "View" tab and select "Show Hidden Files and Folders." Press "Apply" and exit the options screen.
- 3). Highlight all files and folders on the disk and copy them to new folder. If you don't have a new folder created, right click any where on your desktop and select "New" and press "Folder." Name the folder and press "Enter." Copy the files to the newly created folder.
- 4). Open the new folder from Step 3. Right click the file "setup.ini." Select "Open With" and choose "Notepad." Locate the "[Options]" section. Type the following under this section: "PIDKEY=XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX." Replace the Xs with your product key. Don't include dashes.
- 5). Save the file by going to "File" and selecting "Save." Close the file.
- 6). Open any CD burning software of your choosing. Create a new data project and add all files and folders within the folder created in Step 3. Burn a new CD.
- 7). If you've lost the CD key before you could burn this CD, use either Belarc or SIW to view CD keys for all installed software. SIW can also show product keys from CDs. Download the software you wish to use and follow the installation wizard to install. Run a report on your system with the Microsoft Office 2000 Premium disk in your disk drive. View the report to copy your CD key.
