How do I Configure a Trendnet TV-IP212 Camera Over the Internet?
- 1). Connect the IP212 camera to your router with the included Ethernet cable. When the camera is configured, you can access it wirelessly if you have a wireless home or office network, but the initial setup requires a wired connection.
- 2). Install the IP Setup software. Insert the product CD in your CD/DVD-ROM drive. The auto-run program will start. Click "IP Setup" and follow the prompts to install the software. Click the Windows start menu, click "All Programs," scroll to the "Trendnet" folder, click it and click "IP Setup."
- 3). Click "Search." IP Setup will scan your network and find the camera. The default IP address of the camera is 192.168.10.30. Double-click the IP address of the camera. Click "Change IP" if you wish to assign a different IP to the camera. Select "Static IP" to assign an IP address to the camera that will not change. Select "DHCP" if you want your router to automatically assign an IP address to the camera. Type an administrator user name and password into the fields at the bottom of the screen. Click "Exit."
- 4). Open a web browser and type the IP address of the camera. Install the Active-X Control for the interface if prompted. Enter the administrator user name and password. The default for both is "admin" if you did not change them. The main web configuration page loads.
- 5). Click the "Network" tab. Click the UPnP "Enable" checkbox to allow Universal Plug and Play. This allows the camera to be accessed from the Internet through your router and firewall. Change the HTTP port to port 81 to avoid conflict with other software or devices. Click "Apply."
- 6). Log into your router, open port 81 and direct the port to the IP address of your camera. The process is slightly different depending on your router. It may be called "Port Forwarding" or "Virtual Server." Enter a name for the service, make the service type TCP or TCP/UDP, and make port 81 the starting and ending port, if your router requires a port range. Enter the IP address of the camera and click "Apply" or "OK."
- 7). Determine the external Internet address of your cable or DSL modem. Go to "http://whatismyipaddress.com" and your Internet address is displayed. Enter "http://external_ip_address:81" in the address line of the browser to connect to the IP212, where "external_ip_address" is your external IP address. For example, enter "http://192.168.32.3:81" if your Internet IP address is "192.168.32.3". Enter your administrator user name and password to open the configuration screen.
