    • The Sony PSP console is a hand-held device that plays video games, music and movies. You can also connect to the Internet to play games online, download new games or videos, or just surf the web. There are a few tips and tricks related to the PSP's Internet use that can maximize your experience.

    WLAN Switch

    • The WLAN switch needs to be in the "On" position to connect to the web. However, having the switch on does deplete the battery faster. Move the WLAN switch to the "Off" position when you're not connected to the web to get the most out of the battery.

    Connecting to the Web

    • When you attempt to do any Internet-connected activity, the device will prompt you to connect to the Internet by selecting an Internet connection. If you haven't connected to the web before, select "New Connection". The device will go through a standard setup dialog. Select "Infrastructure mode" to connect to existing wireless network, which you can find with the "Scan" function. You'll also have to input any security codes your network may have.

    Tabbed Browsing

    • The web browser can use up to three different webpages at the same time. To open a page in a new tab, press and hold the "X" button on a link. You can navigate between these pages by holding the "Square" button and tapping either the "L" or "R" triggers. Each webpage is assigned a color: red, blue or yellow.

    Ad Hoc Mode

    • You can connect by either Infrastructure mode, to the Internet, or through Ad Hoc mode to other PSP devices for games. Infrastructure connects you to an available wireless network, while Ad Hoc will connect only to the smaller wireless network that the PSP can create for video gaming.

    PlaystationStore

    • When you connect to the PlaystationStore, you can download a number of games and movies which you can purchase, but you can also find a number of free things if you're willing to dig. There are dozens of demos of games, as well as free comics and a handful of episodes of TV shows.
