CEDIA 2008 - Epson Powerlite Pro Cinema 7500UB 3LCD Video Projector
Here is a photo of Epson's newly announced high-end Powerlite Home Cinema 7500UB video projector. Just as with the 6500UB from the previous page, this projector also features a high-resolution 3-chip LCD panel, 1080p native pixel resolution, 1600 lumens light output, a stated 75,000:1 Contrast Ratio, and a built-in Silicon Optix HQV Reon-VX video processor/scaler.
However, there are two additional features on the 7500UB to take note of: Anamorphing scaling and ISF calibration tools.
Anamorphic scaling enables the 7500UB to stretch the image vertically and horizontally in order to properly project 2.35 and 2.40 widescreen Panavision and Cinemascope source material without the letterbox effect. To accomplish this, the 7500UB has an oboard trigger output that controls an accessory motorized widecreen lens.
The ISF (Imaging Science Foundation) certification includes special control settings and menus that an installer can use to adjust the projector for specific room environments, for both day and night viewing, eliminating guess work during setup.
Just as with the 6500UB, the 7500UB is expected to arrive at dealers in December with an expected price below $5,000. The accessory anamorphic lens attachment is made by Panamorph and will cost several thousand dollars. If planning to purchase the 7500UB, either with, or without, the accessory anamorphic lens option, have it professionally installed for best results.
