How to Decrease Free Disk Space
- 1). Browse your computer for a music file or a video file.
- 2). Right-click on the file and click "Copy."
- 3). Right-click on the desktop, point to "New" and click "Folder."
- 4). Open the new folder, right-click a blank space inside the folder and click "Paste."
- 5). Continue right-clicking inside the folder and clicking "Paste" to make more copies of the file to use up more free disk space. Select "Copy but Keep Both Files," when prompted whether you want to replace the existing file.
- 1). Click "Start," type "Computer Management" into the search box and click "Computer Management."
- 2). Click "Disk Management," right-click on the hard disk you want to shrink and then click "Shrink Volume."
- 3). Type in the amount of space you want to take off the disk volume under "Enter the amount of space to shrink in MB" and then click "Shrink." The space you take off the volume will become unallocated hard disk space that you can use to create new disk volumes.
