Internet Explorer 7 allows you to easily set or change your browser's home page. You can also create multiple home pages, known as home page tabs.

First, open your Internet Explorer browser.

First, navigate to the web page that you want to become your new home page.

Click on the arrow to the right of the Home button, located on the far right hand side of your IE Tab Bar (see example above).

The Home Page drop-down menu should now be displayed. Select the option labeled Add or Change Home Page....

Add or Change Home Page Window

The Add or Change Home Page window should now be displayed, overlaying your browser window. The first piece of information displayed in this window is the URL of the current page. In the example above, this is http://D106.

Internet Explorer 7 gives you the choice of having either one home page or multiple home pages. If you have multiple home pages, also known as home page tabs, then each one will open in a separate tab.

This window contains two options if you have only one tab open at the moment and three options if more than one tab is open. Each option is accompanied by a radio button.
  • The first option, labeled Use this webpage as your only home page, will make the current web page your new home page.
  • The second option, labeled Add this webpage to your home page tabs, will add the current web page to your collection of home page tabs. This option enables you to have more than one home page. In this case, when you access your home page, a separate tab will open for each page within your home page tabs.
  • The third option, labeled Use the current tab set as your home page, is only available when you have more than one tab open at the moment. This option will create your home page tabs collection using all of the tabs that you currently have open.

Once you have selected the option that you desire, click on the button labeled Yes.

Remove Home Page (Part 1)

To remove a home page or collection of home page tabs first click on the arrow to the right of the Home button, located on the far right hand side of your IE Tab Bar (see example above).

Remove Home Page (Part 2)

The Home Page drop-down menu should now be displayed. Select the option labeled Remove. A sub-menu will now appear displaying your home page or collection of home page tabs. To remove a single home page, click on that particular page's name. To remove all of your home pages, select Remove All....

The Delete Home Page window should now be displayed, overlaying your browser window. If you wish to remove the home page selected in the previous step, click on the option labeled Yes. If you no longer wish to remove the page in question, click on the option labeled No.

To access your home page or set of home page tabs at any point, click on the Home button, located on the far right hand side of your IE Tab Bar (see example above).

Please note that you can use the following shortcut keys in lieu of clicking the menu button: Alt+M
