DIY Garden Plant Markers
- 1). Gather a flat rock for each type of plant in your garden. If you have multiple rows of the same plant, you will need one rock for each row.
- 2). Scrub the dirt from each rock with a scrub brush so you have a clean surface to paint. A mild dish detergent may be helpful, but not necessary to remove all the dirt.
- 3). Put the rocks out in the full sun to dry. Give them time to dry completely.
- 4). Paint each rock with acrylic enamel paints and small hobby paintbrushes, making sure to write the names of the plants clearly on the rocks. If you're feeling more creative, paint designs or pictures of the fruits, vegetables or flowers on the rocks as well.
- 5). Set the rocks out to let the paint dry completely.
- 6). Spray each painted rock with a coat of clear acrylic spray paint to protect the artwork and then let the rocks dry.
- 7). Place each rock at the head of a row of plants to mark the garden. Place the rocks on top of mulch to prevent weeds from enveloping the rocks.
