Photography Equipment for your home and office
Setting up a wedding photography business means you have the proper gear to get a job at the place and at home. But that does not mean you have to go into debt to get it done. I've seen photographers to buy a new top of the line gear costs over 10 grand only to find that they could not make the business work. I started with 2 Rebel EOS cameras and some moderately priced lenses. In fact, you might already have these or better.
I'll go over briefly some of the items, you need only to start. I'm not going to cover the top of the line stuff, just minimums. You can upgrade as you go along. In business, I've moved on to the Canon 5D, Canon L-series lenses and the whole shebang, but it did not happen overnight. Although the actuator can be similar to other types of photography one major difference is the amount of spare elements, the wedding photographer should have.
Backups
The most important lesson that I can not stress enough is to have backups of everything, back up camera, backup lenses, backup computers, backup images, and backup memory cards, back up everything. Because even though you may never need any of them, once you do not have a backup camera, the shutter will lock and you will have only cost the bride and groom to their photos. Even the photographer insurance You'd be hard to justify the failure of the insurance company, not to mention the bride and groom. I had a memory card fails, hard drives fell Cameras lock to delete the images, and computers crash. Fortunately, I took the wedding photographers tips before me and had backups in place. So closing the backup, backup, backup!
Photographic Equipment
If I am posting in the forum I would get flamed for saying this next bit. Dragging off do not go out and buy a top end camera gear. There are three different categories of camera gear in the fall. Users (the average Joe) pro-sumer (avid fans) and pro (for people whose standard of living). The problem is when you start a wedding photography you are doing for a living yet. You are trying to do this for a living. So to live within your means and buying tools that will work in your price range.
I started with the EOS Rebel XT camera and although I would not want to go back to using them I see nothing wrong with them. Cut your teeth learning Rebel EOS and you will be that much better when you can afford a 5D. When it comes to lenses there are many options, but if you're on a budget The most Canon lenses will not be on your plate and it's ok. There are other lens makers out there that put out quality products.
I also just stating a workhorse lens and one fixed lens. I'm not going to go to the super-telephoto lenses, because, in my opinion, they are not a requirement. I did not get one a year until I could afford the Canon 70-200 IS L series lens. I'm also just a list of Canon gear, but if you're a Nikon fan for it to go. Here are some essential elements of the list, do not forget to double.
Office Equipment
Your office will need as many redundant backup cells, as your photographic gear. I'm not going to go into specifics about the processors and such, because they change too frequently. Needless to say, you need a computer that can handle Photoshop or whatever graphics program you are
