Chuck - The Complete Second Season

Chuck: The Complete Second Season was almost the show's last.
If the show ended then it would have gone out with quite a bang.
This season was even more action packed than the first, with great special effects and even better comedy.
The biggest thing I liked about this season was there was a lot more character interaction and development.
Unlike other shows I watch, the story moves along in each episode so you never feel that the show is stagnating.
Season 2 also had an all-star cast of guest stars.
Morgan Fairchild and Bruce Boxleitner starred as Captain Awesome's parents.
Michael Clarke Duncan and Andy Richter both appear as villains.
Chuck and Elli's father is played by none other than Scott Bakula of Quantum Leap fame.
Nicole Richie guest starred as Sarah's arch nemesis from high school and did an outstanding job during her fight scene.
This season could have been named Chuck Season 2: Character history for all the backstory it dished up to us.
We learn more about Sarah Walker before she became a CIA agent in an episode where she goes to her high school reunion.
We meet Casey's sensei who taught him how to fight.
There is a whole arc revolving around Chuck's time at Stanford where we learn why he was kicked out and his relationship with Bryce Larkin is explained.
Chuck's relationship with his friends and family who are not involved in the spy world become more strained in this season.
As time goes on he finds himself having to lie more often to his sister and other people at the Buy More.
The writers do a fantastic job of showing the stress this puts upon Chuck as he has to decide between his spy life and his normal life time and again.
One of the most unique episodes of the season was Chuck vs the Third Dimension.
This entire episode was shot in 3D and required the old style red/blue 3D glasses.
I did not feel that the 3D added much to the episode.
The effect was neat though and it was nice to see a TV show such as this one pushing some of the technical boundaries of TV.
Chuck: The Complete Second Season managed to take a show that was awesome and make it even better.
The story was engaging and intriguing.
The guest stars were suitably famous and did a great job fitting in with the rest of the cast.
The twist at the end of season 2 was not telegraphed at all and came as a total surprise which rarely happens to me these days.
Chuck Season 2 gets a full 10 on the d10 of geek TV.
