Most people consume way too many calories each day in liquid form, some of them without really knowing the damage we are doing to our healthy eating plan.
We have been lied to for so long that things that we consider healthy should really never be consumed as part of your weight loss mission.
These 5 drinks are ones that you need to really cut out totally or minimize at the absolute worse case scenario.
1) Fruit Juice: We have been sold the big lie for so long that fruit juices are perfectly healthy.
Not so my friend.
Next time you're at the shops and thinking about putting that bottle of juice in your trolley think again.
Read the nutritional label and you might be surprised about what is actually inside that bottle of junk.
Isn't fruit juice just supposed to be the juice of the fruit that it is supposed to represent? You would think so but the ingredients labels will tell you another story.
The big question is why these drinks need that many ingredients? Also be very careful when giving these to your kids.
They will be running around on a sugar high all day! 2) Soft Drinks/Sodas: Soft drinks, also known as sodas depending on what part of the world you are from, are one of the fastest ways to add a large amount of calories to your total food and drink intake each day.
It is second nature for a lot of people to have a can of soft drink with lunch each day.
Perfect if you want to keep building your belly fat but not exactly ideal if you want to banish it once and for all! And no, diet soft drinks or diet sodas are not a smarter option.
While it may be true that they only have 1 calorie, the big marketing spin doctors don't tell you about the amount of extra sugar that is poured in the drink to give it some resemblance of taste.
And I am not even going to address the issue of the artificial sweeteners in this article.
But let me say this, they are a big no.
3) Fancy Coffee Drinks: People that line up at Starbucks everyday for their caffeine hit are just asking for the extra belly fat to pile on.
Imagine that you have a Caramel Frappuccino from Starbucks every day.
That has a huge total of 300 calories just for a small size.
Even a popular small cappuccino has 90 calories.
Compare this to a long black which has only a couple of calories.
This starts to add up if you have a couple of coffees a day like some people do.
4) Smoothies: We have been conned into thinking that smoothies are a healthy drink alternative but really they should be classified as a meal in their own right.
And really, how many of us actually use them as a meal? Not many.
Let's take a look at a smoothie from the popular Boost brand in Australia.
The low fat range of smoothies are usually some of their better sellers so the regular size Strawberry Squeeze has a total of 378 calories.
That is considered to be a healthy snack option but clearly it is more than a snack with that amount of calories.
5) Alcohol: It should be obvious that alcohol is one of the biggest ways to sabotage your weight loss mission, especially if you enjoy a glass or more of wine or beer each night.
Alcohol is simply empty calories and are just asking your belly fat to stick around for longer.
If you cannot go without alcohol you really need to question whether you are serious about actually losing your belly fat.
It is quite simple when you think about it.
If you do what you have always done you get what you have always got.
It is time to get serious and ensure that these five drinks are not in the game plan.
The choice is yours if you chose to accept the challenge!
