How to Repair the Brake Lights on a 2006 Poniac G6
- 1). Turn the G6's engine off, and prop open the hood.
- 2). Remove the cover from the engine compartment fuse block located near the battery. Locate the fuse numbered "47."
- 3). Remove the fuse, and examine it. If the metal wire inside it is broken, then replace it with a new 15A fuse. Place the cover back onto the engine compartment fuse block, and close the hood.
- 1). Turn the G6's engine off, and open the trunk. Remove the trunk net if your G6 comes with one.
- 2). Remove the two wing nuts holding the trunk trim in place.
- 3). Remove the two nuts holding the tail lamp assembly in place using a socket wrench. Pull the tail lamp assembly out of the vehicle. Remove the wiring harness from the rear of the assembly by lifting up the release tab.
- 4). Rotate the bottom socket counterclockwise, and remove it from the assembly. Pull the bulb out, and install a new 3057K bulb in its place with a clean cloth, making sure to not touch the glass part of the bulb with your hand.
- 5). Place the socket back into the assembly, and rotate it clockwise to secure. Reattach the wiring harness, and place the assembly back into the vehicle. Reinstall the two nuts and the two wing nuts. Place the net back into the trunk, if necessary, and close the lid.
- 1). Turn the G6's engine off, and open the trunk. Remove the trunk net, if your G6 comes with one.
- 2). Remove the two wing nuts to expose the three tail lamp assembly nuts underneath. Remove the three nuts with a socket wrench.
- 3). Pull out the assembly to the side to release it from the rear of the vehicle.
- 4). Rotate the largest bulb socket counterclockwise, and pull it off the assembly. Pull the old bulb out, and install a new 3057K bulb. Be sure to only touch the plastic base of the bulb. If you need to hold the bulb, do so with a clean cloth.
- 5). Place the socket back into the assembly, and reinstall the assembly to the vehicle. Reinstall the three nuts and two wing nuts. Reattach the net, and close the trunk.
- 1). Turn the G6's engine off, and open the trunk. Lift out the three plastic access covers on the trunk trim.
- 2). Remove the two tail lamp retaining nuts and the single bolt with a socket wrench.
- 3). Pull the tail lamp assembly out of the vehicle, and rotate the largest bulb socket counterclockwise to remove it from the assembly. Pull the bulb out of the assembly, and install a new 3157K bulb in its place with a clean cloth. Do not touch the glass portion of the bulb with your hand.
- 4). Place the socket back into the tail lamp assembly, and secure the assembly to the vehicle.
- 5). Reattach the two nuts and single bolts, and reinstall the access covers. Close the trunk.
