Think Safety First

• Cleaning your gutters does not have to be the chore that so many people dread, but you need to consider safety first. Make sure that you have a ladder that provides the appropriate height and is very sturdy. Before starting this project, you will need gloves, as well as safety goggles.
  
  

Prepare the Gutter Cleaner

• To prepare your gutter cleaner home remedy, you will need a bucket or a pump sprayer for easy application. Pump sprayers work best because they allow for a more accurate application of the home remedy. For this gutter cleaner mixture you can use either vinegar or bleach as your primary cleaner. Mix two gallons of water with 3/4 of a cup of bleach or one cup of vinegar. Mix in a 1/4 of a Dawn dish soap. Put the mixture into the sprayer or the bucket. It is very important to remove any debris, such as leaves or branches, prior to the application.
  
  

Apply the Gutter Cleaner

• Take your mixture and apply to the inside of the gutters, soaking the entire area. Let the mixture sit for 10 minutes before rinsing. Once the mixture has had time to sit, blast the gutters with a hose. This will help to remove any fungus, dirt, mold, mildew and moss. It is advisable to do the application twice, if the gutters have not been cleaned for 2 to 3 seasons.
