The Seymour Duncan SFX 05 Lava Box Distortion Pedal

The Lava Box distortion pedal from Seymour Duncan is a kind of unusual Mosfet distortion in that its characteristics are to overdrive more like an amp than a stomp box.
This gives it great feedback qualities with a lot of genuine depth and harmonically rich dynamics.
When thinking about the great guitar tones of rock history, somehow they all managed to speak and say something unique.
They were able to cut through and stand as a kind of musical personality in their own right.
Today we know that a large part of achieving those qualities lie in the mid range frequencies which so many of the amplifiers from those times would naturally produce.
The Lava Box distortion pedal has attempted to bring that back with an array or midrange timbres to choose from.
The pedal is also very kind to your pick dynamics and will clean up extremely well even at high distortion levels.
It features a six position Rumble switch which inherently changes the tonal characteristics of the sound.
When you combine it with the distortion and level settings it creates a wide palette of great guitar tones full of drive and warmth.
On a recent demo I saw the pedal was able to generate some great blues tones especially as it puts out a lot of output to drive a tube amp.
The gain range is from 33dB to 57bD and features a 2 stage Mosfet input with class A output.
It can be powered by a 12 volt battery or from the mains via an adapter.
Its dimension are 4.
62" Wide X 5.
10" Deep X 2.
20" Tall and it weights 1.
6 pounds.
