How to Compare Yoga Mats
- 1). Locate a local yoga supply store. Often yoga studios sell supplies in their lobbies. Yoga mats can be purchased online, but it is hard to compare the quality when you can't see and touch the mats in person.
- 2). Touch each yoga mat. Observe the differences between the materials each mat is made out of. The best mat will be sticky so that you don't slip during your practice. It will also be slightly soft to cushion the hardness of the floor, but sturdy enough for you to hold your balance.
- 3). Choose the mat that has the qualities of a yoga mat that will best assist you in holding yoga positions.
- 4). Pick the color you like best for your mat. Once you've determined the best quality mat, it will also make your practice more enjoyable to work on a mat that is pleasing to you and expresses who you are.
- 5). Attempt a few yoga poses at home on your mat to make sure you have made the right choice. If you determine the mat is too slippery or not sturdy enough to practice on, return it to the store and get a better mat. Practicing with a poor quality mat is dangerous and ineffective in improving your yoga practice.
