Rubbermaid Storage Instructions
- Before filling your storage containers with the clutter in and around your home, start with clean storage containers. If the containers are not new, remove any large pieces of debris and wipe them out with a cloth dampened with a solution of water and mild dish detergent. Cleaning the containers before filling them will ensure that dust and dirt do not transfer from the containers to your belongings.
- It is important to pick the right Rubbermaid containers for your storage needs. Choose a container that is the appropriate size for the contents you are storing. Consider packing items in a few smaller storage containers rather than one large container for ease of moving, if you will be transferring the containers from one area to another. Consider the shape of the container in relation to where it will be stored. If you want to place the items under a bed, choose a long, low storage containers. If you will be storing them in the corner of a room, containers that take up less ground space and will be best for stacking.
- Fill the storage containers with the items. Group items in a logical fashion for ease of identification later. For example, pack clothing in one storage container and books in another. To quickly identify items without having to remove the lid, tape a card to the side of the storage container and write a list of container's contents on the card. Close the lid tightly to prevent pests, humidity and dirt from getting on your items.
