How to Remove Lug Nut Studs on a 2008 Sunfire
- 1). Raise the car using jack near the affected wheel. Place a jack stand under the car and lower the jack. Chock the opposing wheels.
- 2). Remove the tire, brake caliper and brake rotor.
- 3). Rotate the wheel hub until the broken stud lines up with the extraction hole in hub backing plate.
- 4). Pound the wheel stud out through the hole in the backing plate using a hammer and steel punch.
- 5). Insert the new stud in through the backing place and install a lug nut loosely onto the threads. Tighten the lug nut in order to draw the lug nut stud into place.
- 6). Continue tightening the lug nut until the stud is completely seated.
- 7). Remove the lug nut, replace the brake hardware and reinstall the tire.
