The (Water) Dragon Year
In Dragon years everything is magnified tenfold. After the rather petty, backbiting, meat and potatoes Metal Rabbit year we just lived through (or didn't) in 2011, we are in for the ride of our lives in the coming water Dragon year.
Looking back to previous Dragon years Metal Dragon 1940 (WWII), Water Dragon 1952, (Korean War - a proxy war) Wood Dragon 1964, (Vietnam war), Fire Dragon 1976 (Wars in Lebanon, Argentina & the USA's Bi Centennial Celebration), Earth Dragon 1988 (Less warlike) 2000 (Centennial Celebration) and Water Dragon 2012 (Afghanistan and other Proxy wars continue).
In other words commotion, turmoil and general hullabaloo will characterize the Dragon year ahead. Get ready to rock and roll. Or crawl under a rock till it's over.
Rare Intensity
So let's think of the Water Dragon Year as a 12-month-long, bumpy road with interludes of elaborate and joyful festivity. Changes, big changes are ahead. Fortunes will be made and lost with lightning speed. Successes as well as failures will not be mild or short-lived. Any and all events will be dramatic and charged with a rare intensity. In short, 2012 will be a year of derring-do, hell-raising and exorbitant fun.
Luck for those who Dare
Dragon years, too, are exceptionally favorable for the enterprising and ambitious. If you want to succeed at something major, start early in the Dragon year and persist. Don't give up. Express yourself openly. Even if you are terrified, show no fear. In China it is said that the Dragon year brings luck to those who dare to speak out, to take charge and even to take over. Dragons are fearless and direct to a fault. But they are not without ruse. They're clever go-getters who are always in the running for first place. They want to excel at every endeavor.
Dragon years, therefore, are propitious for people who have the courage to take risks, to stand fast in the face of danger and hold firmly to their principles without being rigid or stubborn. For those among us who are timid and shy, who shrink in the face of challenge and who daren't speak up for what it is they want or need, Dragon years can be rigorous and even a little bit frightening at times.
