How To Gradually Heal An Abused Child
1 - You actually need to know how long the abuse has being going on.
This gives you an idea into the level of emotional trauma that child has been suffering from.
2 - Every detailed information gotten from the abused child must be held in utmost confidentiality, because the more people you tell the bigger the scar and shame the child is exposed to, let the story stay limited within the household, this gives the child some assurance that things can still go right.
3 - Try as much as possible to make the child know that it was not his or her fault, that it happened due to the action of an irresponsible adult.
This saves the child from self guilt, which could slow down the healing process.
4 - At this point the child needs a new companion, needs someone to talk to, so you must always be around the child, show him or her a different and special kind of love, this will help engage the child's mind and get the child off the thought of those traumatic times.
5 - Take the child away from the abuser, there should be no contact with the offender or abuser in anyway, because the presence of the abuser could bring back guilt, pain, shame, embarrassment and fear, the farther the abuser is the better for the child.
6 - Do not isolate the child, let him or her be free, let the child have access to friends and relations, because if you isolate the child you make the problem or situation look like a very big stigma, which could further damage the child's confidence and can lead to depression.
7 - Any substance or activity that might be addictive like (alcoholic drinks, pills, some kind of food, video games and so on) should be avoided and taken away from the child, these things could lead to addiction which is another big problem.
8 - Try to seek some professional help if you can not handle the pressure alone, just make sure the situation is looked at properly.
9 - Avoid every form of self pity as possible, self pity puts the child's mind in constant sadness and pain, which could make getting over the problem very hard.
10 - If you believe in God, then this is the time you need to pray hard and seek the face of the almighty, who has all answers to mans problems.
