Size and Battery

• The Mylo COM-2 was the larger and heavier of the two devices. It measured 2.6 inches tall, 5.2 inches wide and 0.8 inches thick at its thickest point. It weighed 6.8 oz. before optional upgrades and accessories. The original Mylo COM-1 measured 2.5 inches tall, 4.8 inches wide and 0.9 inches thick. It weighed 5.3 oz. before optional upgrades and accessories. The devices came in either black or white. Both colors featured orange and silver accents. A rechargeable 1,200-mAh lithium-ion battery supplied on-board power to both versions of the Mylo, providing the devices with up to 45 hours of run time. Sony shipped both devices with a six-volt AC adapter and a neoprene carrying case.
  
  

Screen and Navigation

• The centerpiece of both devices was a TFT active matrix touch screen LCD display. The screen on the Mylo COM-1 measured 2.4 inches diagonally, displayed a maximum of 64,000 colors and had a resolution of 420 by 240 pixels. The Mylo COM-2's screen was slightly larger and more detailed. It measured 3.5 inches diagonally and had a resolution of 800 by 480 pixels. The original Mylo had a four-way scroll wheel navigation controller to the right of its screen. All of the Mylo COM-2's functions were controller by its touchscreen. Both devices also had slide-out QWERTY keyboards.
  
  

Wireless

• Neither the Mylo COM-1 nor the Mylo COM-2 worked on cellular networks. Instead, to send messages or browse the Internet, users had to have access to a Wi-Fi signal. The Mylo COM-1 was only compatible with 802.11b wireless networks. The Mylo COM-2 worked on both 802.11b and 802.11g networks. Both devices came preloaded with Yahoo! Messenger and AOL Instant Messenger for communicating via text message with contacts over a Wi-Fi signal. Users could also operate both versions of the Mylo like a phone by using programs like Google Talk and Skype over a Wi-Fi connection. Both devices came preloaded with Internet browsing software as well.
  
  

Storage and Other Information

• Both versions of the Mylo stored data on 1.0-gigabyte internal flash drives. Sony also equipped both devices with media card expansion slots so that users could store additional data on Memory Stick or Memory Stick Pro media cards. Both versions of the Mylo connected to a computer via a built-in USB port. Both devices also had 3.5-mm headphone output jacks. The Mylo COM-2 came equipped with a built-in 1.3-megapixel digital camera. The Mylo COM-1 didn't have a camera.
