Black Desert is an MMO meaning you need to have stable internet connection in order to play. You can't log-in without internet. It's very important to know this because some people may think that Black Desert is an RPG.
Black Desert Online is being developed by Korean game studios called €Pearl Abyss€. Pearl Abyss is a new game developer without any live and successful projects. BD is their first game, but it looks like they did great job. The game looks amazing and the gameplay is very attractive.

When you launch the game for the first time you will be asked to create a character. Most of you will be impressed with character creation system. Black Desert allows you to customize a lot of different parameters of your character's model. Many people say that this character creation system is the best. I also think so. I was impressed with the number of available options. The greatest thing is that this system is very easy to use. You can create your character and customize his appearance without any difficulties.

First of all you will be asked to select a race. It's a very important choice!There is one thing you should pay attention to. Classes in Black Desert are bounded to races and gender. Right now there are 4 classes available: Ranger, Sorcerer, Giant and Fighter. If you want to play as a Ranger you will have to choose Elven female character. If you want to be a fighter you will have to play as a Human male character. More classes will be added after the release. Such system is rather unusual for European MMO games but many Korean MMOs have similar system.

Let me tell you some words about differences between classes. All classes have unique set of skills and combos:

• Ranger is a female with a bow. She can attack enemies from distance but she is weak in melee fights.
• Sorcerer is a female mage. She uses her dark power to defeat enemies. She wears light armor and she is weak in melee combat.


• Giant is a male berserk with dual wield axes. This class is extremely strong in melee fights. He can crush enemies fast.


• Fighter is a male tank with sword and shield. He can protect his allies but is not as strong as Giant.

You have probably noticed that there are no healers class and support class.
