How to Get a Job at Starbucks
- 1). APPLY. You can apply for a job at Starbucks either online (see link under "Resources" below) or at one of their stores. The company also has hiring fairs, and some stores do open recruiting one day a week.
- 2). FOLLOW UP. After submitting your application, don't sit back and wait for the phone to ring. Call the store you applied to a week after submitting an application and ask to speak with the manager. Tell him you are following up on a job application you submitted and ask if there are any openings for the position you applied for. Starbucks encourages job seekers to fill out applications, but that doesn't mean there are always openings. If there aren't any openings, ask if any stores in the area are looking for help. If no one is hiring, thank the manager and ask when you should check back.
- 3). GET AN INTERVIEW. If there are openings at the store where you applied, ask if for an interview. Once you get an appointment, prepare for the interview. Do a little research about the company, including reading recent press articles, so you will be up to date on company news. Starbucks likes to hire prompt, well groomed, appropriately dressed people, who are friendly, outgoing and listen well. Keep this in mind for the interview.
- 4). FOLLOW UP. If you really want to make a good impression, dash off a quick email to thank the person who interviewed you. Then follow up with that person in a week if you haven't heard anything. Starbucks likes people who take initiative, so it pays to show that you do.
- 5). IF YOU DON'T GET THE JOB, TRY AGAIN. And ask if there's anything you can do to improve your chances of getting hired next time. Positions at Starbucks are always turning over, so check back frequently. And be sure to try different stores.
