How to Use Turbo Tax to Do City Taxes
- 1). Choose a Turbo Tax product that is right for your tax situation. The free edition can help you if you have a simple return. The home and business edition can help you if you are a small business owner.
- 2). File your federal and state taxes using the Turbo Tax software. Turbo Tax enables you to e-file your taxes, or you can file your taxes by mail.
- 3). Check with your local city government to find out the information you'll need to file your city taxes. Some cities, like Cincinnati, allow you to file your taxes online using the information contained in your federal/state tax return.
- 4). File your city taxes. If you file a paper return, click the "Print & File" tab or button in Turbo Tax to print a paper copy of your return. Then click "Print/Save for Your Records." You'll most likely need to attach the printout to your city's tax return form. If you e-file, you'll need to manually enter figures from your tax return. The "Print & File" option in Turbo Tax enables you to view your information before printing it, so you can copy the line information over to your city return.
