    • 1). If the alignment page does not print, make sure the color cartridge is installed properly in the left carrier and the black cartridge in the right. Remove the paper from the tray, and make sure there are no obstructions in the paper shoot. Re-stack the paper and reload the feeder. Do not force the paper into the printer.

    • 2). If you are trying to install the software and nothing happens, go to the My Computer tab of your Desktop Start menu. Under the CD-ROM drive icon, you should see the Lexmark printer logo. If you do not, remove the disc from the drive and reinsert. If the problem persists, you may have a bad CD-ROM drive. If the icon appears, double-click, and this will launch the installation setup.

    • 3). If the printer is not communicating with the computer, shut down the power and unplug the printer. Disconnect both ends of the USB cable. Reconnect the USB cable, then re-power the printer. Restart the computer. If the problem persists, you may have to uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

    • 4). If your printer is printing slowly, close all programs not in use. Under Printer Properties, select Normal or Quick under Quality/Speed settings. If printing pictures, try reducing the resolution in your photo editing software.

    • 5). If the print is too dark or smudgy, remove the paper and let the ink dry. Under Print Properties, adjust the Quality/Speed settings to Normal. Better or Best Quality may cause smearing on plain paper. If the print has horizontal streaks, open the Maintenance tab and select Clean.

    • 6). If edges are not smooth or vertical lines are jagged, select Better or Best under the Print Properties Quality/Speed tab. Open the Lexmark Solution Center Maintenance tab and select Align. This will fix blurry edges.

    • 7). When white lines appear in graphics or solid black areas, the print cartridge nozzles need to be cleaned. In the Lexmark Solution Center, select Clean in the Maintenance tab.

    • 8). If scanning is unsuccessful, the printer may not be communicating with the computer properly. Power cycle the printer by unplugging it from the computer and electrical source. Reconnect the printer to the computer first and then re-power the printer. Restart your computer. If this does not fix the problem, you may need to uninstall and reinstall the printer software.

    • 9). If scanning freezes the computer, lower the scan resolution by opening the Lexmark All-In-One Center. Under the Scan section, select See More Scan Settings. Click Display Advance Settings, and enter a lower resolution.

If the edge of the copy does not print, make certain the original is properly oriented following the arrow guides on the scan surface. Make sure the copy is not larger than the printable area of the page. Open the Lexmark All-In-One Center. Under the Copy section, select More Copy Settings. Under the Reduce/Enlarge section, select Fit To Page, and copy the document again.

Uninstalling and Reinstalling the Printer Software

    • 3). Follow the prompts to complete the process.

    • 4). Once the uninstall is complete, restart your computer.
