Cake Stencil Instructions
- 1). Look at your cake or cake pan to determine how large the stencil you are creating should be. You don't want to create the design only to find out it is too large or too small.
- 2). Use a pen to draw your shape or design onto a lightweight piece of cardboard. A manila folder works well for a cake stencil.
- 3). Cut the design or shape out of the piece of cardboard with the craft knife when you are comfortable with the design.
- 4). Place the stencil on top of your cake. If your cake is frosted, place the stencil lightly on top of the cake so that you do not disturb the frosting.
- 5). Shake powdered sugar, cocoa powder or colored sugar onto the cake so that it completely fills the area of the cake stencil.
- 6). Gently remove the cake stencil from the cake.
- 7). Use a frosting spatula to carefully smooth any frosting that has been disturbed.
