Exploring as much of a country as possible is many people's top priority on a break and by taking a Canada holiday to the province of Ontario, you can enjoy a holiday that is incredibly varied.
By using the second biggest province in Canada as a base, you can make your holiday to Canada truly special by taking day trips to well-known sights such as Niagara Falls and bustling cities like Toronto.
And while many people may not realise it when they jet off to Canada, New York can be reached in around two hours by plane from Ontario - so why not include a New York holiday in your break too? All these places have unique activities and attractions that make them ideal for all sorts of different holidaymakers, but for those who love to get out and about and explore, Ontario is perfect.
The province is known as one of the best places in the whole of the US and Canada for outdoor activities and every year, people flock here to race down rivers in rafts, hike up mountains, cycle down bike trails and climb up rock faces.
More low key outdoor fun could include strolls around some of the most picturesque places in Canada, as well as horse riding.
Canada is also world-renowned for its great ski and snow culture and, for those who love snow boarding and other winter sports, Ontario is an excellent destination.
Regardless of whether or not you like to get out into the great outdoors on a break, you will surely want to make sure your holiday to Canada involves a trip to the world famous Niagara Falls, which are a truly majestic sight from any angle.
Nestled in-between the US and Canada, the view of the falls from the Canadian side is breathtaking.
One of the best times to visit the horseshoe-shaped falls which can be seen from here - the whole Niagara range is in fact made up of three different waterfalls - is in the evening, when the water is illuminated by a dazzling light show.
You'll almost certainly have a warm jacket with you if you have been skiing the Canadian slopes, but make sure you have something waterproof to throw on when coming to visit the falls, which are in incredible 167 feet high.
Hundreds of gallons of water fall over the rocks every single second and this really does have to be seen to be believed.
For something totally different after an outdoor activity-filled break in Ontario is a trip to New York.
While many may think the two places are worlds apart, the Big Apple is in fact only a short plane ride away - though many people may fancy tackling the eight or nine-hour drive to get a true taste of the country.
There is so much to see and do in New York that a few days is vital to soak up as much culture as possible.
Everyone will want to see the most famous sights of all - the Statue of Liberty, the Empire State Building and others - but culture fans will also be happy to spend a few hours in the Guggenheim.
Big spenders should head to Fifth Avenue and stroll around the high-end boutiques that can be found here before taking a trip to the most prestigious address in New York, the Upper East Side.
If you are a fan of TV and films, why not check out the wide variety of location tours which can be taken in the Big Apple? Its place at the top of every film director's location wishlist means that a huge number of well-known shows - including Sex and the City - have been filmed here.
Fans of this show in particular can head to famous spots from the series including the character Carrie's apartment and the coffee shop on one of the fun tours offered.
On your trip back to Ontario, make sure you check out Toronto.
Just like the Big Apple, this bustling city is overflowing with bars, clubs, museums and galleries - while there, you should certainly make time for a visit to the Lawrence Markets, voted one of the top 25 markets in the world by the readers of Food and Wine magazine.
The South market holds around 50 high-end food stalls and in the North market, visitors can enjoy a Saturday farmer's market and a Sunday antique fair.
