How to Truncate the URL
- 1). Go to the bitly website. Click on the text box. Right click the mouse and select "Paste." The long form of the URL should appear. Click "Shorten." Select the shortened URL with the mouse. Right click and select "Copy" to copy it to the clipboard.
- 2). Go to the Google URL shortener website. Click on the text box that says "Paste your long URL here:" and right click the mouse. Select "Paste." Click "Shorten." To the right of the box, the shortened URL will appear. Type "Control" and "C" to copy the short URL to the clipboard.
- 3). Go to the TinyURL.com website. Click on the text box that says "Enter a long URL to make tiny:" and right click the mouse. Select "Paste." Click "Make TinyURL!" On the following page, you can select the standard shortened link or the preview link. The preview link will allow others to hover over the link and see where the shortened link will take them. Choose either by selecting the text, right clicking the mouse and selecting "Copy" to copy it to the clipboard.
- 4). Go to the is.gd website. Click on the text box and right click the mouse. Select "Paste." Click "Shorten!" On the following page, the shortened URL will be highlighted in a text box. Right click with the mouse on the highlighted URL and select "Copy" to copy it to the clipboard.
- 5). Go to the Tiny URL website. Click on the "Tiny your long URL:" text box and right click with the mouse. Select "Paste." Click "tiny!" Below the text box is the recent URL area. The shortened URL will appear there in the right hand column. Right click with the mouse on the highlighted shortened URL and select "Copy" to copy it to the clipboard.
- 6). Go to the Ow.ly website. Click the "Shorten URL" text box and right click with the mouse. Select "Paste." Enter the words into the security text box below the URL box, then click the "Shrink It" button. On the following page, click the scissors icon located above the shortened URL to copy it to the clipboard.
