The uphill lie in golf can be a challenging shot.
If your local course is similar to mine then the uphill lie is a shot which you will commonly face.
It is one of the easier sloping lies for the golfer I personally rank the downhill the most challenging.
The most common problems that occur from an uphill lie is under clubbing and hitting the ball fat.
Another problem that can happen from this shot is a draw or hook.
The alignment, weight and balance are all crucial to perfect this shot.
If you do struggle with the uphill lie then don't fret help is at hand in the form of simple steps.
Here are a few pointers and steps to look at; Step 1 Choose the correct club.
Very important remember an uphill lie will encourage more loft and hence less distance.
This catches a lot of people out always remember with an uphill lie - higher and shorter.
The steeper the hill the more loft this will create.
Step 2 Get yourself into your stance.
The back shoulder should be lower than the front shoulder.
This will adjust your body accordingly and compensate for the slope.
If you keep your shoulders parallel to the ground this will also ensure your swing follows the slope of the hill.
Step 3 Get yourself comfortable and position the ball slightly forward of the middle of your stance.
Depending on the severity of the slope you will adjust the ball accordingly.
The more severe the slope is the closer the ball will be played to the front foot.
Step 4 Naturally the weight will be on the back leg.
Again the more severe the slope the more weight the back foot will have.
Lean into the hill and make sure your swing follow the hill.
Move the body and the club in the direction of the slope.
Step 5 The last step is to aim a little right of your intended target this is because uphill lies tend to pull to the left.
Make sure and compensate for this.
Last but not least finish with a high follow through.
I hope some of the above steps can help you in some way.
Perhaps you're struggling with uphill lies; even if you're not reviewing the above information might come in handy at some point.
You can never know enough about golf is my motto.
