How to Make Toddler Puzzles

    • 1). Purchase a child's foam placement or use one you have around the house. It should not be made out of plastic, because this will create sharp edges when you cut it.

    • 2). Turn your placemat upside down and draw lines with a pencil in the shape of puzzle pieces. The size of your puzzle pieces and the intricacy of your shapes should be catered to the age of your child. If your child is less than one year old, you may want to cut the placemat into large blocks and not puzzle-shaped pieces.

    • 3). Cut out your puzzle pieces following the lines that you drew. Make sure to cut smooth lines so that the puzzle fits together seamlessly.

    • 4). Turn your puzzle pieces upside down and use an eraser to remove the pencil lines from the back of the pieces. Be gentle with the eraser to avoid tearing or stretching the placemat.

    • 5). Turn your puzzle pieces over and put them together.

    • 6). Find a plastic container large enough for your puzzle pieces, then name your puzzle and use a marker to write the name on the container. You now have a box for your puzzle!
