How to Import TweetDeck Columns to HootSuite
- 1). Go to your Tweetdeck interface and open the list or column you want to duplicate on Hootsuite.
- 2). Select the "Edit" button on the upper left side of the column to look at the programming details of each column.
- 3). Look at the top of the column and note what your Tweetdeck column is defined by. This could be @ replies, direct messages, particular hashtags (for example, #california) or other trends. If you can't find this column title or are unsure if any additional edits to the column have been made since its creation, simply look at a few of the latest entries and identify what commonalities each update has, such as having a certain hashtag or written by the same author. Write these streams down or type them into a text document so you can remember them.
- 4). Open Hootsuite on your particular media (iPhone, iPad, Firefox or other media). It doesn't matter which media you use to create your new stream out of your old Tweetdeck columns, as this edit will be to your account and thus will be shown wherever you access your account.
- 5). Select the Twitter tab on your new Hootsuite dashboard and click the "Add Stream" button just below it, which is marked with a plus sign.
- 6). Select the Lists tab on the box that comes up and make sure the profile selected on the dropdown menu is your own. Ensure the "Use Existing List" button is selected, then select a Twitter list from the available options. This allows you to import the lists you've already made in Twitter to your Hootsuite dashboard.
- 7). Create new columns for any streams you want to include that were not originally Twitter lists by selecting "Feed," "Search" and "Keyword or Lists." Create a new list using the keywords, stream seeds and filters you wrote down at the beginning. For the Feed tab, select a type of stream from the dropdown menu before clicking "Create Stream." For the Search tab, type in a word you wish to base a column on (for example, "ninjas" or "pirates") before you select "Create Stream." For the Keyword tab, enter up to three keywords that will be the seed from which Hootsuite will populate your new list.
