    • 1). Insert the XP Home disc into the computer and restart it.

    • 2). Press any key to boot from the disc.

    • 3). Press "Enter" to start the Windows Installation program.

    • 4). Highlight the hard drive you are reformatting using the arrow keys. If you only have one hard drive, it will already be highlighted. Press "D" to delete it, then press "L" to confirm the deletion.

    • 5). Press "Enter," then select the third option for the file system, which is the non-quick format NTFS version. The drive will format. This may take a long time to complete. Once it is done, press any key to restart the computer.

    • 6). Press "Next" at the first screen that pops up after the computer restarts. Enter a name and company name into the text boxes and press "Next." The name and company name can be anything you want.

    • 7). Enter the Windows key, then press "Next."

    • 8). Enter a computer name and press "Next."

    • 9). Adjust the date and time settings, then press "Next" twice. The computer will finish installation, then restart one more time.
