    • 1). Determine the measurements for your wooden counter display. You can make it as long or tall as you please, and you can include shelves as well. Write down your chosen measurements.

    • 2). Based on your chosen meaurements, draw the counter display pieces on the plywood sheet. You will need two side pieces, which will measure the height and depth of the display. You will also need a top and a bottom piece, which will measure the length and depth of the display. If you need shelves, make the shelves the same size as the top and bottom pieces.

    • 3). Cut out the pieces using a jigsaw and use sandpaper to smooth the edges and surfaces. This will avoid cracks and splinters in the plywood.

    • 4). Assemble the wooden counter display. Place one of the side pieces on its side, so it lies on its height-side. Align the top piece with the end of the side piece, so the side piece covers the end of the top piece. Connect the two pieces by hammering nails through the side piece into the top piece.

    • 5). Connect the bottom piece. Align the bottom piece with the end of the side piece. Ensure that the side piece covers the end of the bottom piece. Attach the shelves in the same manner, placing the ends of the shelving pieces perpendicular to the surface of the side piece, if applicable. When you complete this step, the ends of top and bottom pieces and any shelves should be standing straight up in the air.

    • 6). Position the second side piece. Attach the side piece by hammering nails through the side piece into each exposed top, bottom, and shelf end. Depending on the size of your counter display, you should include at least two nails per piece. Make sure the nails have reached and secured the ends of the top piece, bottom piece, and shelving pieces.

    • 7). Paint your counter display using acrylic paints and paintbrushes. If you want to add details to the counter display, use a fine-tipped brush and various paints to add wines, flowers, or shapes to the surfaces of your counter display.

    • 8). Turn the counter display right side up and place it on your counter. Fill it with your smaller figurines, candies, or gum packages.
