How to Get a Business License in Birmingham AL
- 1). Fill out the Application for Tax Certificate form (ATC). All applicants for a business license must complete this form and submit it along with the correct business licensing forms.
- 2). Determine the type of license you need. Contact the Tax and License Administration at the city hall of Birmingham. You can call the office (205-254-2198), go to the office, or visit the City of Birmingham website. To apply for a general business license go to the office, 710 N. 20th St., during its regular business hours. Licensing of a controlled business such as alcoholic beverage, pool table, and dance licenses, are taken by appointment only. As of July 2010, the licensing application hours are 8 a.m. to 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday.
