How to Dice Mushrooms
- 1). Twist a mushroom stem off with your fingers to remove it from the cap or cut if off with a serrated knife. Discard the stems.
- 2). Rinse mushroom caps under cold water without soaking them to loosen dirt and pesticides. Scrub mushrooms caps with a mushroom brush to clean them. Pat the mushrooms dry with paper towels to remove moisture, preventing a soggy texture.
- 3). Place the caps right-side up on a cutting board. Cut each mushroom cap vertically into 1/4-inch thick slices with a chef's knife. Dice the slices horizontally into 1/4-inch thick slices. Continue dicing into smaller pieces, if desired.
