Casino parties are a popular theme but if you don't get it right they can seem pretty lame and fake. The key to throwing a successful, impressive casino party is nailing down the essentials and doing them well. Whether you are hosting a bachelor party with a casino theme, a charity fundraising event or just a party among friends, there is no reason to approach it half-heartedly. Make everyone at your casino party feel like they are high rollers by giving them the best experience you can accomplish on your budget. - Casinos are all about excess. There is a lot to do, tons of space, every game imaginable is being played somewhere and the enjoyment never stops. Unless you have an unlimited budget, hundreds of guests and a massive space, remember you are not a casino. You don't have to be.
Choose a few popular games that are essential to the gaming experience. Good recommendations include blackjack, roulette, craps and poker. This may be all you need. Rent the good game gear from a party store and set up the tables to look as much like they do in the casinos as possible. Make sure you have lots of chips in different denominations as well.
Make sure that the people you have running these games are well-versed in the rules and procedures. You do not want your dealers or croupier to seem like a phony. It breaks the suspension of disbelief. Just doing a few games for your casino party is OK, as long as you do them well. - When invitations go out, inform the guests that the party theme also extends to them. This is a high roller's casino, and they should come dressed for their parts. Tell the ladies to dress to the nines and the guys to pick out their slickest suits and ties.
You'll also want to have your dealers dress their parts, with white button-down shirts, name tags, and maybe a green visor to give it that "old school" Vegas feel. If you have people serving food or drinks, even if it's just friends or family helping out, they should play a part too. Have them wear appropriate waiter, waitress or chef uniforms. - Get started on your party music play list well in advance. With the availability of music online today there should be no problem getting any songs you want for a small fee. Stick with music that suits the theme. "Viva Las Vegas," by Elvis, "Luck Be A Lady," by Frank Sinatra, or any other rat pack standards will go over well. Any songs from the James Bond movie soundtracks are also a good place to begin.
- Include accessories and atmospheric items guests might expect on a trip to Vegas. Bright neon lighting, a buffet line for snacks, lots of cocktails and cocktail servers to bring them around helps set the mood. With all of these things going on, your guests will forget they are at your party and feel they've been transported to another place. That's when you know you threw a great bash.
