In Southern California there are many experienced motorcycle race bike riders.
And since the weather is so good you can ride all year around and with all the great canyons to ride and the race tracks not too far away many riders develop outstanding skills indeed.
Of course with that said there are thousands of squids out there, who are your basic pretenders with all the cool gear, new bike with all the extras, but without the skill to stay alive riding at the level they talk about.
Luckily most of them are all talk and therefore they are safe on the porch.
Then there are the riders who are attempting to better themselves and attempt to push the envelopes of their bike and their riding ability.
Sometimes they win, sometimes they become road pizza and it is all part of the race bike culture and expensive plastic repair.
One of the greatest tests of skills is to start out at Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu with good road conditions and head up from Leo Carrillo Beach to the top of Decker Canyon.
It is about ten miles and if you can keep your average speed between 105-120 mph then I would qualify you as a top-notch rider.
Leo Carrillo Beach to the Top of Decker Canyon; How Fast are you? Go check it out sometime and see if you dare?
