How to Organize a Halloween Scavenger Hunt
- 1). Write out a list of your guests. You will need to separate them in to teams. Each team will need to have one driver if your scavenger hunt goes off of your property. If this is a class scavenger hunt you should still pick one person to be the leader. This person will be responsible for making sure each item or task is checked off the list. You will also need to identify which member has a digital camera they are willing to bring. You will need one for each group or you will need a Polaroid camera. This is to capture the tasks you must perform to show as proof.
- 2). Make a list of Halloween items you want your guests to find. Decorative Halloween bats, pumpkins, pumpkin pie, a fake eyeball, a ghost, a fake black cat, and a plate of gummy worms are all great items. Do not allow your guests to ransack the homes of others to find these items, i.e., "borrowing" pumpkins from other people's front yards.
- 3). Make a list of tasks each group must perform. Tasks can include chewing a caramel apple off of a clothesline or trying on a scary costume. You can have your guests pick gummy worms out of a chocolate pudding pie with their teeth and have their hands behind their back. They can also stand on a pile of hay bales, hand out 50 pieces of candy to total strangers or get someone to donate a Halloween decoration to you.
- 4). Print out your scavenger hunt list on your printer. You will need one copy for each group. Make sure there is a check box next to each item or task so that the group can mark them off as they go.
- 5). Explain the rules to the players. Make sure they know they must have proof of everything they do. The first team back with all of their items and proof of all of their tasks wins.
- 6). Buy some gifts for the winners of the scavenger hunt. They don't have to be expensive. You can get a bag of Olympic-style "medals" at Walmart for $3. Hand them out to the winning group.
