    Soda Bottle Critter

    • To create your own soda bottle critter, you will need an empty soda bottle of any size, construction paper, glue, craft paint and pipe cleaners. Empty any liquid out of the bottle, wash it out and allow the bottle to dry. Let your child be creative and decide what critter he would like to create with the soda bottle. Allow him to paint the bottle to resemble the body of his critter and glue cut out pieces of construction paper to form eyes, ears, a nose and mouth. Use the pipe cleaners as whiskers, antennae or a tail.

    Juice Can Stilts

    • To create juice can stilts, you will need two juice cans of the same size, craft paint, a lever-style hand can opener, rope and scissors. Allow your child to decorate the cans with the craft paint in any style he desires and let the paint completely dry. Use the hand can opener to punch two holes in each can, one on either side of the top of each can. Feed a piece of rope through one hole and out the other with each can. Cut the rope long enough so that your child can easily grasp both ends when standing on the can. Tie the loose ends of the rope together on each can.

    Coffee Can Bank

    • Find an empty coffee can that your child would like to turn into a bank. Remove the plastic top. With construction paper, markers or crayons, glue and scissors, have your child decorate the outside of the can, personalizing it or making any types of designs he wishes. Cut a hole in the plastic top large enough for coins or folded paper money to slip through. Place the top on the can and your child is ready to start adding money to his own coffee can bank.

    Aluminum Can Wind Chimes

    • To create aluminum can wind chimes, you will need five empty soda cans, string, a utility knife, a plastic lid from a coffee can or other food item and a wire clothes hanger. Punch five holes along the sides of the plastic lid, evenly spaced apart. Poke two small holes into the center of the lid. Push a piece of string through each of the five outer holes and tie the end of each string in a knot. Tie the other end of each string through the tab of a can and tie in a knot. Run another piece of string into one of the center holes in the plastic lid and out the other hole. Tie the loose ends of this string onto the wire clothes hanger. You are ready to hang your aluminum can wind chime.
